Tibi’ is the soundtrack to the 10-year photographic documentation of the evolution of the prepared Sardinian guitar. The multimedia performance is based on the interaction between music and animated photography, a creative exchange between Paolo and Nanni Angeli, which finds its maximum emotional value in live performance.

Tibi is the harshness of the brass cut and hammered by Francesco, the memory of layers of acer moulded by Luca and Giancarlo, it is the line in the hands of so many persons who have give life to a choral experience; it is the farewell to a guitar and the birth of its twin sisters.

“…The Sardinian prepared guitar is a masterful display that demands to be experienced on Tibi’s accompanying DVD, on which Paolo Angeli soundtracks the instrument’s creation via still photographs taken by Nanni Angeli. The images capture the process of creation in intimate detail: the grain of the wood, the dull glint of unworked metal, the prototype components, the workshop. One particularly powerful image shows the guitar half made and exposed, trailing footpedal cables like tentacles as though it were some kind of bizarre beached hybrid of giant squid and shipwreck carcass…” An Audience with Mark Sanders

“…Paolo Angeli has enhanced mechanically a giant Sardinian guitar. Tibi’s accompanying DVD shows how the whole album was recorded live in real time, Angeli as one with the motor- driven wheels, pulleys and springs attached to the body of his instrument. The gorgeous tonal hints of Angeli’s compositions, the soaring quality of the massed buzzing strings, the percussive fusillades, the pizzicato butterfly flutters, the discreet nods towards both European folk motifs and rock-guitar noise, all aim directly for the heart and the gut. Solo adapted giant Sardinian guitar is album of the year…” Stewart Lee – The Sunday Times
