PAOLO ANGELI & TENORE MURALES DE ORGOSOLO
VINTI ‘E MAJU
I am happy and excited to announce that on May 20 VINTI ‘E MAJU will be released, the album that seals my collaboration with Tenore Murales de Orgosolo, a pillar of Sardinian musical culture. VINTI ‘E MAJU is a political record that retraces the history of Sardinia throughout the 20th century from a class-conscious perspective. The lyrics bring forward themes of social struggle, anti-colonialism, anti-militarism, education and knowledge, with a focus on the painful transition from the agro-pastoral world to mass tourism. Together with Tenore Murales, we redesign imaginary scores, orchestrate traditional repertoires, and entrust this work to soundscapes that evoke memory while transporting us into the present. We are far from folklore: in this album, tradition meets avant-garde and the voice of social protest.
I’m sharing the trailer with you. Here, a short excerpt from the record is accompanied by archival footage shot in Orgosolo and Gallura between the 1960s and 1970s, taken from historical documentaries.
Here you can listen to the single Meriare, a track that tells the story of Sardinian emigration.
A heartfelt thank you to Manu, Marti Jane, and everyone who made this recording project possible.
